It would greatly help if I could at least have a healthy diet to withstand the hardships of life UNTIL I can take a regular breath again. MY STORY FOLLOWS - Please read...we are all brothers and sisters in CHRIST JESUS and I am truly in NEED. I know God wants me to ask its my only option in the walk of JESUS CHRIST to do otherwise is to take the wrong path. I had to get an address in order to sign up for FOOD STAMPS and EMPLOYMENT AGENCIES, its actually a P.O. BOX. PLEASE SEND GIFT CARD TO: Sandra Cantu – 6900 SAN PEDRO, BLDG #147, BOX #135, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78216 I’ve already stayed twice at the Salvation Army – a person can stay from 1-30 days every 3 months. But you get stuck in a trap. If you cannot find a job within two weeks of your stay your back out on the streets again. Easy Write-ups, like not making your bed properly or not doing your shore can also get you kicked-out. The only other shelter is S.A.M.’s, for both men and women, but believe me, its awful, it is so overcrowded that the overflow sleep all around the building and under the freeway – its dangerous because most of these people are angry or drunk, drug addicts, mental, I wish I could help them, but I’m close to being one of them! I’ve already gotten FOOD STAMPS from our government which allow a card for 3 months every 6 yrs. I’m signed up with about 10 Employment Agencies, but with-out a car and a stable telephone number, I seem to always loose out . I have worked a few assignments and sometimes I make enough $ to get a weekly rental that has a phone. I’m already signed up with Work Source and when I do have transportation money I use their facility of operations the best I can in looking for work. Let me further explain why I don't even have family to go back to: My mom has been ill with parkinson for 20 years now (*pray for her) and has a house full as it is, her care-provider (pray for her) and my immature brother (please pray for him) who brings a girl (please pray for her) to sleep with him at nights in his bedroom and is very hurtful in words and no-one can correct him and a sister and her 4 children and husband live upstairs (pray for them). A BRIEF explanation of how I became homeless: My husband left me for a friend of mine and kept going back and forth between us, I had to get away or I would have been another Clara Harris statistic. He is not the father of my child and my child is at an age where child support is no longer available (she is over 18). There is really a lot more to the story. I would still stay at my mom's house even if I had to sleep on the floor and I was doing that, but my husband knew where I was at, and me being in such a vulnerable position would play on my low state of mind and vulnerability, this is how he could go back and forth between my ex-friend (whom I have forgiven). Also I was married to him for 14 years and to see them together kind of spooks me and weakens me to faint. My ex, was wreaking havoc on two family households (the other woman and her family which are actually friends of my family and my family household) and this went on for about two years, he was in love with the both of us. My friend and her family and my family and my husbands family all grew up in the same neighborhood. There was alot of whispering going around and bothered me alot mentally. I tried my best to avoid them but since I was on the bus or walking to the grocery store I would always seem to run into them. It extended to family friends, neighborhood friends. Three weeks my husband would be with me and 1 month with her (he found the words to keep this going), then he would call me again and tell me how he really loved me and sneak out of her house and get us a rental and this happen about 12 times, then I wanted to hit him and I saw myself getting competitive and mean with my friend - I was being pulled into a web of Satan, I had to get away. How is my daughter handling all this - its terrible for her. Just to get by somedays, I sit outside of the mall’s food-court trying to enjoy the beautiful music (trying to be normal) but the torture of the smell of delicious foods pass by and that really hurts because of my daughter. So like a mother hen, I look for left-over pizza, whatever and get it from the table before the cleaning lady. There is a DIVIDING LINE BETWEEN THOSE WHO HAVE and THOSE WHO HAVE NOT, there is an actual difference, character and all. You would never know that I am homeless because I wear good clean clothing from when I was not homeless. I SLEEP at the airport or around the Marriot with 3x waking up to a man staring at me (more to that story too) or under a church patio, and once on the floor of the restroom at Greyhound, the worst. During the daytime without a place to stay my head automatically jerks down, I have no control and have even lost a job because of that. I have to send my daughter back to HOUSTON and I will try to survive on my own, but I'm afraid for her because we live in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in HOUSTON, TX its "DENVOR HARBOR" and her uncle can say very hurtful things, like we are all free-loading off of my mom etc... sad to say but true. My mom thinks that I am doing wonderful and I can't let her think otherwise, she is really sick and she saw the turmoil going on when I was in Houston. My precious mom, I miss her and love her so much, but the overwhelming situation keeps me from being with her in her time of need. I’ve already received my 1-bag of dry groceries from CAM (Christian Ministries) given every 6 months and most can not be used because it has to be cooked, and its a poor diet for a diabetic. The FOOD BANK distributes through area churches within the community but you have to have a permanent address to qualify. There is a real hunger problem, not only in San Antonio but I believe in every city in America and believe me there is not much help. I’m not your average homeless person and anyone can become homeless; there is no guarantee in any job and the PUNCHES of LIFE are felt greater when you have to worry about hunger too. I use the computer at the library to seek work and send email in hope of help or any light out of this darkness. I do have a resume posted but without a phone number, it’s hard. The bible says that in the end times that one will look for TRUTH/LIGHT and not find it...thats the way it feels for me. But I know God/JESUS LOVES ME, and I pray to him to keep me right with him... but If I could at least get fresh food... not dry... I can't cook it... Presently I am trying to find a night job or a maid/nanny job but I need references which I have none. The bible says if you know some one is in need you should not only tell them that you hope things get better for them - if you have it to give to them give it. My other option is to hop from 24 hour diners until the buses run again in the morning, there is one sight that has a I-HOP, JIMS AND TACO CABANA IN ONE CORNER, but other than that there is NO other way. A girl I met at the Salvation Army, after our stay ended, later when she could no longer bear the cold nights and the hunger, she stripped down to her panties and bra and walked in the street to stop traffic so she could be put in jail. I'd been sending prayer requests all over the country & USA about the same situation in my life. I've been homeless for the last 4&half years now, also been in homeless shelters across the country mainly in southern California, phoenix AZ, And Atlanta GA areas. I'm now in Veterans homeless shelters here in Dublin GA. But I'm leaving this Friday 17th to try to get on Swift transportation Company a over -the -Road trucking Company that does long haul tractor-trailer trucks driving 18 wheeler driving. I'd have my CDL Class A license already for a year now. It seems like some thing always go wrong when I'd try to get on any trucking company either my blood is to high, or I'd can't pick up 75 pounds on the physical DOT tests, but now I' m facing since I'd have not drove in a tractor-trailer truck in a year it will be very hard for me at my age of 55 to rethink what I'd learn a year ago August 31,2007 last year, Unless GOD touch my brain-mind cells to remember the training I'd receive last year at C.R. England truck driving school in Mira Loma, California to get my CDL Class A License. 2nd prayer requests I'd been separated from my wife Linda Marie of 33 years of marriage. The main reasons she want take me back now till I'd get on Swift Transportation Company 1st & stay there permanently (which I'm going to do just that so we can get our new home lord's willing) then she will take me back. This is the reasons I'm sending this prayer requests a couple of weeks before I'd go to take my DOT Physical & tractor-trailer driving test both October 20th 2008 that day so I'd can get on Swift & Lord's willing stay there till I'd retired from that company as well. Please pray for that GOD will touch my Brain learning memory to a miracle to pass these tests & drive for this Company I'd just mention in this requests. Thank you for praying for me.
